How a Root Canal Actually Works
If we determine that a patient does indeed have an infection in their dental pulp, we’ll recommend they get a root canal. After numbing the patient, we create a small hole in the tooth and remove any infected tissue. We then clean the tooth, sanitize it, and fill it to replace the pulp. At a follow-up appointment, the tooth will be further restored with a dental crown. Overall, most patients describe feeling very little while in the chair, and many compare the experience to getting a small filling, which is to say not uncomfortable at all!
